What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve functioning. It helps to relieve symptoms and signs of many health problems and treat the underlying root causes of those symptoms. Acupuncture is the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world.
How does Acupuncture work?
Fine needles are inserted into Acupuncture points which stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemical will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are 25-50 times thinner than an injection needle. They are so thin, several can fit into the middle of an injection needle. Many people feel nothing at all from the needle; others experience pressure that can be followed by tingling, numbness, or warmth. Most people find the treatment very relaxing.
How shortly after receiving Acupuncture will I feel results?
Most people immediately feel relaxed with an improved sense of well being.
How long will the effects of Acupuncture last?
Alas the results are not permanent, but like exercise or training a muscle, multiple sessions can train the mind to deal with stress and anxiety more effectively.
How different is the Summer Special from regular Acupuncture treatments?
Normal acupuncture sessions run around an hour and can involve other treatment methods such as cupping, moxibustion and electro-acupuncture. This Summer Special is limited to 30 minutes total and is strictly acupuncture.
Will you take insurance for the Summer Special?
No. Although we do accept insurance for other treatments, insurance coverage is usually limited to a pain diagnosis.
