Dry Needling, What Is It?
You may have heard of dry needling recently. Dry needling in Florida is mostly performed by Physical Therapists. We believe dry needling is Acupuncture lite. What we mean is they are practicing a very limited form of Acupuncture with minimal training. Why? They use Acupuncture needles and insert the needles into trigger points or at the attachments of muscles. They claim it is not Acupuncture because they do not use classical Acupuncture points or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory. We have been doing this for thousands of years in Acupuncture. We treat the same anatomical points and call them Ah Shi points. Dry Needling works because it is Acupuncture and Acupuncture is typically safe and effective. However physical therapists only need a few weekend courses (50 hours) to perform dry needling. As Acupuncturists we have over three thousand (3,000) hours of training before we even leave school. I personally have been practicing for more than 15 years. Acupuncture is not a simple certification or side business for us.  Don’t limit yourself to only muscle points. Trust you local Board Certified Acupuncturist. We are the Experts in needle treatments. We are the “Dry Needlers” with highest amount of skill and training.
